Exhibition “Impressions from the urban landscape”

The city’s architecture creates a beautiful impression of history and elegance.
This exhibition captures and interprets Stockholm’s unique blend of early modern and contemporary environments, while also drawing on impressions of steel constructions and urban settings from other parts of Europe. The works reflect fragments of the city. Its structures, surfaces, and atmospheres, offering a dialogue between past and present within the urban landscape.

Artist Mikael Törnqvist

Mikael (b 1960), raised in Lund and now residing in Bromma, primarily works with oil and watercolor. He is focusing on urban environments inspired by train journeys. Through his artistic expression, he explores the relationship between surfaces and lines, resulting in dynamic and atmospheric depictions of urban landscapes. With its shapes and lines, the urban environment invites interpretation through colors, either to enhance or simplify and thereby construct a motif. The choice of colors, composition, and subject matter can convey either the sensation of travel and change or a lingering melancholy—whether through the fleeting impressions of a train journey with its passing scenery or an abandoned steel structure left behind by time.

Educated at Lund Art School, Öland Folk High School and Konstfack, he has exhibited widely, including at Liljevalchs Spring Salon and Artist Arena Showroom.
Recent exhibitions include the Affordable Art Fair Stockholm 2024.
